Parkinson's Disease Risk Increases with Metabolic Syndrome

Having a larger waistline, high blood pressure and other risk factors that make up metabolic syndrome is associated with an increased risk of Parkinson's disease, according to a study published on August 20, 2025, in Neurology(r), the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology. The study does not prove that metabolic syndrome causes Parkinson's disease; it only shows an association.
